The Mahatma Gandhi Adhyayana Kendra of our college is established with the aim of promoting the life, philosophy, and values of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. The centre works to inspire students to follow Gandhian principles such as truth, non-violence, simplicity, self-discipline, and social service.

Objectives of the Centre
  • To create awareness about Mahatma Gandhi’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle.
  • To study and disseminate Gandhian thoughts on peace, harmony, and human values.
  • To encourage students to participate in community service and nation-building activities.
  • To organize lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and essay competitions related to Gandhian philosophy.
  • To develop leadership qualities, moral values, and a sense of responsibility among students.
Activities

The centre regularly conducts seminars, debates, special lectures, cleanliness drives, peace marches, and various student-oriented programmes based on Gandhian ideals. The aim is to help students understand the relevance of Gandhiji’s teachings in today’s world.

Celebration of the Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 31st October 2025 at 11:00 am under the umbrella of Mahatma Gandhi Study Centre in our college. The function was presided over by Dr. Sureshkumar Nandgaon, Principal of the college. Dr. Neelambika Sherikar, retired Principal of Matoshree Godhutai Doddappa Appa College, was the chief guest.

At the beginning of the function, Smt. Anita Bhakre, Coordinator of the Mahatma Gandhi Study Centre, highlighted several unique points in her introductory speech. The function started with a prayer song offered by students and staff of the Department of Music.

Faculty members and students paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi with devotion and respect. After felicitation, the chief guest addressed the gathering and spoke about the values, struggles, and experiences of Mahatma Gandhiji during the freedom movement.

In his presidential remarks, the Principal urged students to understand the great tradition and heritage of our nation, respect the sacrifices of patriots, and cultivate values such as purity, honesty, truth, non-violence, and love for humanity.

The function concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Dr. Laxmiputra, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.
